First off let me say i like the look of the shaved bumper ! !HOWEVER Nothing is going to be as strong as the original bumper in the event of being bumped (unshaved). No matter what product is used the integrity is comprimised .Having repaired many urethan bumpers the best products i have found for Nissan bumpers are made by a company based in North Carolina ,SEM. Their semi rigid structural adhesive is great .I would only do this with the bumper off the car .Cut out the area where the license plate mounting protrusion is using a sheetrock knife or even a hack saw.Using a smal grinder bevil the edges of the cut area front and back taapering the whole area so no sharp defined edges exist . Working from behind clean and grind with 24 grit disc an area at least 4 inches around the cut area being careful to not overheat the urethane .Apply a couple layers of 2 inch masking tape over the cut out area on the front side .Using Fiberglass screen or 2-3 inch wide sheetrock joint mesh tape(again fiber type not paper))(Home Depo or Lowes) apply a layer of this mesh to cover the cut out and overlap onto the bumper 2 inches .Put on a layer of properly mixed structural adhesive over the tape(you will be using about 1/2 of the 2 tubes in this step) .Working quickly to put another layer of mesh over the wet adhesive and applying pressure (latex gloves work wonders !! ) You should have enough left to put on one more layer of adhesive and screen (do this when the 2 other layers are still wet)This means having everything you will need ready before starting .Mesh pre cut cut and mixing sticks ready for the adhesive. As soon as the final coat is applied i cover the area with clear plastis (ziploc gallon size works great )or a piece of Aluminum foil so i can apply pressure to the area rubbing back and forth .Allow the area to dry for about an hour longer is better and remove the masking tape from the outside of the bumper .Again grind the area and any high spots from the filler (adhesive ).Apply a coat of the adhesive to the front of the bumper cut out area building it up until its flush with the rest of the bumper .A light skim coat of a flexible filler designed for bumpers can be used for final finishing before flexible prime coats are applied . Cost of materials is $40 for the adhesive(you will use the entire kit) and $7.00 for the screen mesh tape,The flexible filler is about $20 but you will have a bunch left over .Maybe get together with someone else doing this to cut costs .
